Generic symbol names reduce traceability between the schematic and actual components used in the circuit, potentially causing BOM mismatches.

Renaming symbols to the actual part number ensures clarity and accurate documentation throughout the design process.

To replace generic symbol names with the actual part number, follow the steps below. Steps:

  1. Open and extract the .IntLib file in Altium.

  2. Inside the extracted library (.LibPkg), select and right-click the .Schlib file to rename it to the exact Part Number.

  3. Select and right-click .LibPkg to save the changes.

  4. After saving the changes, Compile the .LibPkg. This will ensure an updated integrated library (.IntLib) is saved.

To locate the updated .IntLib, go to the Project Outputs folder.
