1) Download the part from SnapMagic
● Go to the part page (example: https://www.snapeda.com/parts/S32K358GHT1MJBST/NXP%20Semiconductors).
● Download the KiCad format as a ZIP.
2) Unzip the File
● Unzip the downloaded file to a known folder (e.g., Documents/ECAD/SnapMagic/NXP/).
3) Add the libraries in KiCad
1. Open KiCad.
2. Add the symbol library:
● Preferences → Manage Symbol Libraries… → Global or Project → Add existing library → select the .kicad_sym file you unzipped → OK.
3. Add the footprint library:
● Preferences → Manage Footprint Libraries… → Global or Project → Add existing library → Open the folder containing the .kicad_mod files (the .pretty folder) → OK.
Tip: Use Project libraries to keep designs portable; use Global for parts you’ll reuse across projects.
4) Inspect the multi-section symbol
1. Open Symbol Editor.
2. In the Left Panel, find the imported symbol and double-click it to open.
3. Use the Unit drop-down (top toolbar) to view each section/unit (A, B, C…); this is where multi-section pins are organized.
5) Place the multi-section symbol in your schematic
1. Open Schematic Editor.
2. Press A (or click Place Symbol) and choose the part.
3. Place Unit A first. Once it's placed, KiCad will prompt you to add the other units. Keep placing them until all necessary sections are on the sheet.
4. When all units are placed, the placement flow ends automatically.
