This tutorial is no longer needed since SnapMagic now supports DipTrace natively, via the .eli binary files. Simply visit www.snapeda.com to download free CAD libraries (symbols, footprints, and 3D models) for Diptrace🎉

Our Eagle *.lbr files can also be used to import the symbol and footprint to DipTrace. Below are the instructions.

To import the symbol:

  1. Open Schematics, click Tools > Component Editor...

  2. In the Component Editor, click Library > Import > Eagle XML (*.lbr)...

  3. Browse the downloaded *.lbr file and click Open.

  4. Choose the Library Group where you want to save the part and click OK.

  5. Click Library > Save As...

  6. Save the *.eli file anywhere.**

  7. You can now use the symbol in your Schematic

**NOTE: Do not save it in the Diptrace Standard Library path. (C:\Program Files\DipTrace\Lib) DipTrace will not allow you to edit in that folder.

To import the footprint:

  1. Open PCB Layout, click Tools > Pattern Editor...

  2. In the Pattern Editor, click Library > Import > Eagle XML (*.lbr)...

  3. Browse the downloaded *.lbr file and click Open.

  4. Choose the Library Group where you want to save the part and click OK.

  5. Click Library > Save As...

  6. Save the *.eli file anywhere.**

  7. You can now use the footprint in your PCB.

**NOTE: Do not save it in the Diptrace Standard Library path. (C:\Program Files\DipTrace\Lib) DipTrace will not allow you to edit in that folder.

For Diptrace 3.0 and earlier:

  1. Download the Eagle file from SnapEDA and import the part into Eagle.

  2. Export the Eagle library to the Script format (.scr), and save the file.

  3. Open the Diptrace Launcher > Component Editor, click on Library > Import > Eagle Script, and select your script file.

  4. When the Library Details window appears, choose the library Group where you want to save it, and click OK.

**NOTE: Do not save it in the Diptrace Standard Library path. (C:\Program Files\DipTrace\Lib) DipTrace will not allow you to edit in that folder.
